National Senior Citizens Day today; PM extends greetings

The 3rd National Senior Citizens Day is being celebrated on Wednesday. This year the day is being marked by chanting the slogan ‘Senior citizens are the identity of our civilization, respect them.’

  The government has been celebrating Senior Citizens Day on Poush 11 as per the Bikram Sambat calendar every year with the aim of increasing respect and awareness towards senior citizens and their plight.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, while giving a message of greetings on the occasion of the third National Senior Citizens Day, expressed his congratulations and best wishes to all the senior citizens of Nepal who have dedicated their important time of life to serve the society and the country.

Saying that the senior citizens’ knowledge, skills, and experience provide guidance for the long-term welfare and development of the nation, Prime Minister Prachanda said that the state has tried to address issues related to ensuring dignified, healthy and happy living of all senior citizens with priority.

He emphasized that the government was active in creating an environment that guides the important decisions of state operations by using senior citizens’ knowledge, experience, skills and wisdom.
