KATHMANDU: Ncell Axiata Limited has announced the closure of social media platforms that are not registered in Nepal.

In a notice issued Thursday evening, Ncell stated that the shutdown is in compliance with the directive issued by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, following the respected Supreme Court order, decisions made in a Cabinet meeting, and the Social Media Usage Directive.

Ncell also clarified that registered platforms, including TikTok and Viber, can continue to operate in Nepal.
