KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has clarified that recent media reports labeling an internal notice as a “load shedding schedule” are misleading and inappropriate.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NEA said the load management schedule released by the Chanauli Distribution Center in Chitwan for a single day was purely for internal technical load management, not indicative of nationwide load shedding.

NEA drew serious attention to the confusion caused by the notice and the interpretations made by some media outlets and users on social media.

The statement explained that due to a dry spell during the monsoon season and increased irrigation demand, there was a need to temporarily reroute electricity lines and transformers in certain areas, which required brief power interruptions.

Labeling such a technical measure as a load shedding schedule, NEA stated, is misleading to the public.

It further clarified that the issue in the Chanauli area is purely technical and is expected to be resolved within two to three days.
