RASUWA: Around 200 Nepali citizens stranded in Chinese territory are being brought back to Nepal on Wednesday after the Miteri Bridge at the Rasuwagadhi border point was swept away by a flood in the Bhotekoshi River.

The bridge was destroyed by a devastating flood in the Lhendey River along the Nepal-China border on July 8.

Following the incident, the Nepali nationals, who had been stranded in Kerung, China, are now being repatriated via the Tatopani (Zhangmu) checkpoint.

A total of 203 Nepali citizens stranded in Kerung have been provided with temporary shelter arrangements by the Chinese government.

Following diplomatic coordination between the two countries, they are being brought back to Nepal through Tatopani in collaboration with Chinese authorities.

Some of the stranded individuals reportedly lack sufficient funds for food and transportation. With the support of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Tibet Autonomous Region and related Chinese authorities, arrangements have been made to transport them to the Tatopani border.

Upon arrival in Tatopani, the Nepali citizens will be handed over to Nepal’s concerned officials.

The government of China has also been acknowledged for its assistance in the safe evacuation and temporary shelter of the affected Nepalis.
