KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has issued a warning to ride-sharing service providers not to overcharge passengers.

The warning comes following complaints that some drivers hiked fares on Monday, taking advantage of the shutdown of public transportation.

The Nepal Police Headquarters released a public notice, also advising passengers to avoid using offline ride services.

On Monday, public transport operators halted services in protest against the Gandaki Province government’s new regulations on ride-sharing.

This disruption led to a surge in ride-sharing fares, and the number of drivers operating offline reportedly increased.

In response to the complaints, ride-sharing company Pathao issued a statement denying any increase in fares.
