KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari has viewed that the garment industries in the country have created jobs for thousands of people.
Inaugurating the 30th Annual General Assembly of Nepal Garment Association here on Wednesday, Minister Bhandari stated that the garment industries have contributed largely to the nation’s economic development through employment generation and earning foreign currencies.
Minister Bhandari was of the view that domestic production, local skills development and employment creation through production growth are inevitable for the nation’s development.
Likewise, Minister Bhandari pledged to unveil friendly policies and programmes for promoting quality products, brands and exports of Nepali goods.
Nepali Congress leader Ramhari Khatiwada and Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Ganesh Parajuli mentioned that a robust national economy could be developed by promoting domestic products and discouraging foreign goods and urged the government to take the stakeholders on board for the to materialize.
