KATHMANDU: Nepal Press Union has announced that it will be organizing the Lomanthang International Media Summit. According to the Union, preparations for the event are in their final stages.
During a press conference held on Friday, the Union’s President, Shiva Lamsal, shared details about the summit. He stated that the event would take place in Lomanthang, Mustang, from Baisakh 27 to 30.
According to Lamsal, the summit aims to contribute to the multifaceted transformation and societal reform for the prosperity of citizens and a prosperous Nepal. The event will feature experts from six different countries who will present on global technological challenges and opportunities, media struggles in South Asia, and the impact of journalism in the region.
“The Nepal Press Union is organizing this summit with the aim of highlighting every aspect of society and contributing to multidimensional changes and social transformation for a prosperous Nepal. The summit will run from Baisakh 27 to 30, starting in Kathmandu and traveling through Pokhara to Mustang,” Lamsal said.
The summit will include discussions on Climate Crisis and Journalism, AI and New Media in South Asia, and Press Freedom and Journalism: Practices and Challenges. Additionally, an interaction program titled Media’s Role in the Climate Crisis will be held in Aamsom, Mustang, with the participation of local residents, Lamsal informed.
Experts from six countries, including South Asia, will present on the changing global environment, technological opportunities and challenges, and the struggles faced by media in the region. According to Lamsal, the summit will reflect on global perspectives and critically examine journalism in South Asia and Nepal.
