BIRGUNJ: A gang fight at the Dashain fair in Birgunj on Tuesday night left one person dead, police reported.
According to Parsa Police, the clash erupted over disputes regarding shop placement at the fair. The victim, a 20-year-old man known as Golden (identity yet to be confirmed), sustained fatal injuries during the altercation.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the disagreement began on the opening day of the fair near Geeta Mandir. The confrontation escalated into violence at night, during which Golden was struck with a stick. He was rushed to Narayani Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead later that night, said DSP Haribahadur Basnet, police spokesperson.
Police have detained three individuals suspected of involvement in the incident. Their names have not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing.
DSP Basnet added that the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear. Interrogations of the detained suspects are underway, and authorities have launched a detailed investigation to gather further evidence. The victim’s body has been sent to Narayani Hospital for postmortem examination.
