KATHMANDU: The one-way traffic has resumed along the BP Highway from Friday afternoon. The highway was disrupted following the rain-induced disasters caused due to a heavy rainfall last week.

Chief of the Kathmandu-based Federal Roads Supervision and Monitoring Office, Subharaj Neupane, said that the road network was reopened temporarily from today by repairing four kilometres roads in 13 different sites.

The track of the highway was brought into operation by building diversions in 19 locations including in Roshikhola.

The Chaukidanda area of the highway in Kavre district has witnessed a massive damage after the landslides and flooding.

Likewise, Katunje, Charsayabensi, Chiyuribas, Mangaltar, Kaldhunga, Piple, Manthi and some other sections of the road in Kavre district were heavily damaged.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising had inspected the road section at the Chaukidanda area on Thursday morning, while asking the officials to expedite the maintenance works even in the nighttime by deploying additional human resources.

The maintenance works have advanced smoothly and the two-way traffic is likely to take place from Saturday, the officials hoped.
