Over 16,000 participants to apply for KMC scholarship

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has announced that 16,137 students will be able to participate in the entrance examination organized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City for students interested in studying in institutional schools in grades 11 and 12 under scholarship quota for the academic session 2082/83. Out of a total of 17,229 applications from 77 districts across the country, 16,137 students have been selected.

According to Laxmi Poudel, Education Officer at the KMC Education Department, 1,092 applications were rejected for not including proof of citizenship or birth certificate, proof of having studied in a public school, proof of having studied on scholarship in an institutional school, or proof of permanent residence in KMC.

According to the Department of Education, the selected students include 11,590 in the Faculty of Science, 4,164 in the Faculty of Management, 32 in the Faculty of Humanities, 95 in the Faculty of Education, and 256 in the Faculty of Law. KMC has stated that the selected students have been informed through email and phone.

The scholarship entrance exam will be held on 3rd July from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. The exam will be based on the syllabus of class 10. In which a total of 100 multiple-choice questions will be asked, including 30/30 questions from compulsory mathematics, science and English subjects and 10 questions from general knowledge. A minimum of 40 percent marks will be required to pass the exam.

Scholarships will be awarded to students based on the merit list after the publication of the exam results. KMC says that this program provides financially weak but talented students with the opportunity to receive quality education in the institutional school of their choice in grades 11 and 12.

KMC is trying to make quality education accessible through this program and brighten the educational future of students. KMC believes that the system that has been implemented mandatorily has greatly helped students in obtaining education.
