PM Karki apprised of areas of ongoing study on constitutional review

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Law Commission has apprised Prime Minister Sushila Karki of the areas of ongoing study related to the review of Nepal Constitution.

A team comprising Commission Vice-Chairperson Laxmi Prasad Mainali and Secretary Indira Dahal (Bhattarai) today called on Prime Minister Karki at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and informed her about the issues of constitutional review.

Secretary Dahal informed that the Commission has initiated studies to that end in accordance with the constitutional provision for review in every 10 years.

In this connection, a study committee was also formed under the leadership of Vice-Chairperson Mainali.

The team had also presented a legal dictionary book to Prime Minister Karki.

Established in 2010 according to the recommendations of the Buch Commission of 2009, the institution is one of Nepal’s old public bodies.
The Commission conducts work related to the translation of laws, codification, amendment, integration and review of existing laws, as well as studies and research on legal and justice-related matters.
