PM Karki expresses grief over the death of actor Thapa

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expressed profound grief over the news of the untimely death of Sunil Thapa, a popular actor in the Nepali cinema sector.

Stating that with the death of actor Thapa, the Nepali and Indian film industry has lost a multi-faceted artist, Prime Minister Karki has said that his excellent roles as villains and co-stars, from the role of Rate Kainla in Nepali movie ‘Chino’ to that of a boxing coach in Indian movie ‘Mary Kom’, have succeeded in winning the hearts of millions.

In a message of condolence today, Prime Minister Karki has said that every character of actor Thapa will always live in the memory of viewers.

“His dedication and contribution for more than four decades will remain a source of inspiration for future generations of artists.”

Paying heartfelt tributes to him, the Prime Minister has also extended deep condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, well-wishers and the entire art sector.

Actor Thapa passed away this morning at the age of 68 due to a heart attack.
