KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent official visit to China has made a remarkable contribution to enhancing Nepal’s prestige on the international stage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday night.
Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, who accompanied the delegation, briefed the media at Tribhuvan International Airport upon Oli’s return.
He highlighted the outcomes of high-level meetings and achievements of the five-day trip, which concluded with Oli’s arrival back in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Oli departed for China on August 30 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.
During the visit, Oli held bilateral talks with President Xi and Vice President Han Zheng, as well as meetings with several heads of state and government from other countries.
According to Secretary Rai, the primary objective of the visit was Nepal’s participation in the SCO summit, aimed at elevating the country’s level of engagement with the organization and promoting its national interests through multilateral diplomacy.
