Press Council to award newspapers published continuously for 50 years

KTHMANDU: The Press Council Nepal has decided to present the ‘Press Council Award’ to the newspapers that have been published continuously for 50 years.

A board meeting of the Council held at Salyantar of Dhading district took such decision, reads a press release issued on Thursday by the Council’s senior administrative officer and spokesperson, Deepak Khanal.

The meeting also decided to revise the procedure relating to award so that the award distribution would be transparent and effective.

Similarly, the board discussed Council’s programmes organised so far in the current fiscal year, its progress, election code of conduct and contemporary issues of journalism, reads the press release.

The media are appealed to fully implement election code of conduct in order to hold upcoming election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5 in a free, impartial, transparent and calm environment.
