KATHMANDU: General commuters continued to face hardship today due to the ongoing halt of public transportation services enforced by transport entrepreneurs.

The shutdown, called in protest of ride-sharing services, has caused significant disruption to daily life for those dependent on public vehicles.

In contrast, ride-sharing platforms such as Pathao and InDrive have seen increased demand. Normally overcrowded bus stops now show a notable presence of these services as people turn to alternatives to reach their destinations.
Some vehicles, including Mayur Yatayat buses, Thankot-bound vehicles, and a limited number of rental taxis, were seen operating.

Additionally, Sajha Yatayat buses continued their service. Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force also operated free bus services on two routes today to assist stranded passengers.

Despite an agreement reached late Monday night between the federal government and the Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs to send a letter to the Gandaki provincial government requesting a suspension of the ride-sharing regulations, public transport operators have continued their strike, keeping regular services off the roads for another day.
