KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across different parts of the country, disrupting transport services on major highways and rural road networks.

According to a police report released this morning, several road sections in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces have been partially obstructed, while traffic has been completely halted in some areas.

In Koshi Province, flood and landslide damage has affected road infrastructure in Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts.

In Bhojpur Municipality–5, Bokhim area, the Mid-Hill Highway has been impacted by flooding, allowing only one-way traffic at present.

Authorities have deployed an alternative route, but continuous rainfall continues to pose risks.

Similarly, in Makalu Rural Municipality–3, Naya Basti area of Sankhuwasabha, a landslide has blocked the Koshi Highway. The road remains partially operational as clearance work continues, though the risk of falling rocks and debris remains high.

In Bagmati Province, rainfall has also significantly affected road transport.

Vehicular movement on the BP Highway has been completely suspended after flood risks increased along the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunje Besi road section in Kavrepalanchok district.

Security personnel have been deployed to high-risk areas, and monitoring has been tightened to reduce the risk of accidents, police said.
