TANAHUN: A section of the Prithvi Highway at Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality–4, Saankhar, collapsed on Saturday following continuous rainfall, forcing authorities to enforce one-way traffic movement along the Aanbukhaireni–Muglin stretch.
According to Inspector Tek Prasad Subedi of the Aanbukhaireni Area Police Office, the collapse occurred around 4 p.m on Saturday.
Police have been deployed on both sides to manage safe passage of vehicles in a single lane. This is not the first time the road has been damaged at this point.
In May 2022, a similar collapse occurred, after which retaining walls were built along the Marsyangdi River to stabilize the road.
Despite those repairs, the same section has given way again due to the recent heavy rains.
Authorities have urged drivers to maintain caution while traveling through the area as repair work is being assessed.
