KATHMANDU: A Thai Lion Air flight from Bangkok to Kathmandu was diverted to Lucknow, India, after it was unable to land at Tribhuvan International Airport.
According to the Tribhuvan International Airport Office, the aircraft could not land due to a “missed approach” in Kathmandu. The flight, numbered TLM 220, was en route from Bangkok to Kathmandu when the incident occurred.
A “missed approach” typically occurs when the aircraft approaches the runway without meeting all necessary landing parameters.
In such cases, pilots execute an overshoot maneuver to ensure a safe landing, either by circling for another attempt or diverting to an alternate airport.
