Three judges appointed to Supreme Court after parliamentary approval

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel on Monday appointed three new justices to the Supreme Court based on the recommendation of the Judicial Council and following approval from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

The appointees are Senior Advocate Meghraj Pokharel, Chief Judge of the High Court Janakpur Shreekanta Paudel, and Chief Judge of the High Court Dipayal Shanti Singh Thapa.

Earlier today, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee had approved all three names.

According to the spokesperson for the President’s Office, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, the appointments were made in accordance with Article 129(2) of the Constitution.
