Three persons die when a jeep falls into the river bank

KALIKOT: Three persons died in a jeep accident in Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-4, Salleri of Kalikot district at 6.00 pm on Friday evening.

They died on the spot when the jeep (Bhe 1 Ja 2898) en route to Salleri on the Seri Pantadi road went reverse and met with the accident.

Among the deceased were two excavator operators and one co-driver, informed Kalikot Police Chief Him Bahadur Khatri.

According to him, the deceased were 28-year-old Shankar Kathayat from Dailekh, Tekendra Shahi from Achham, and co-driver Navaraj Shahi from Shubhakalik-2, Kalikot.

All three were involved in road construction work on the Seri Pantadi road. Police Chief Khatri shared that the three bodies were retrieved from the cliff and preparations were being made to take them to the district headquarters for post-mortem.

According to him, the vehicle was found broken some 500 metres below the road on the bank of the Tila River.

The jeep driver has come to the police contact but is yet to be interrogated, the police said.

After receiving news of the accident, a team comprising Chief District Officer Gorkanraj Suyal Police Chief Khatri, district police, and armed police had reached the accident site.
