Police in Kapilvastu district on Tuesday arrested a youth on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl.

The arrestee has been identified as Ratan Giri (28) of Daldalaha in Kapilvastu Municipality-5.

Acting on the tip-off that Giri had raped the girl, a team of police personnel deployed from Kapilvastu District Police Office (DPO) rounded up Giri for the investigation.

Likewise, police in Jhapa district detained a teenage boy on the charge of raping a 13-year-old girl.

The arrested has been identified as Paltan Tudu (19) of Satighatta in Mechinagar Municipality-7 in the district.

According to police, a team of security personnel deployed from Dhulabari-based Area Police Office (APO) detained the teenager acting on the information that he raped the girl in a forest in Laxmi Danda of Mechinagar.

Meanwhile, investigation into both cases is underway, informed police.
