Two killed, 15 injured in Bajura jeep accident

BAJURA: Two people died on the spot in a jeep accident this morning in Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura district.

According to Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as 76-year-old Bija Rokaya and 75-year-old Bacha Rokaya, both from Ward No. 5, Kyudi of the same rural municipality.

The jeep (Ba Pra 03–001 Ja 0338), which was heading from Kyudi village to the ward office of Ward No. 5, met with the accident at Tunigada.

Police suspect the overcrowded vehicle lost control on the rough, unpaved road while transporting elderly passengers who were traveling to renew their social security allowance documents.

Fifteen people were injured in the accident. Himali Rural Municipality has sent medical personnel and an ambulance for rescue, according to Chief Administrative Officer Kul Bahadur Thapa.
