CHITWAN: The first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has elected 23-year-old Aakankshha Pokharel from Chitwan as a central committee member.

Pokharel, a resident of Bharatpur who previously worked as a journalist in the district for two years, currently serves in the secretariat of Pratibha Rawal, the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration.

She secured her victory under the Bagmati Province geographical category, receiving 880 votes.

Active since the inception of the RSP, Pokharel has previously served as a municipal member and the municipal treasurer for the party’s Bharatpur Metropolitan committee.

Following her election to the central body, the young leader claimed that she is likely the youngest central committee member across any major political party in Nepal.

Emphasizing her commitment to steering the party in line with the expectations of ‘Gen Z’, Pokharel stated, “Winning a seat on the central committee of the country’s major party has significantly increased my responsibility. I want to thank all convention delegates, party leaders, workers, and well-wishers who trusted me with their votes.”
