KATHMANDU: Three members of the Lumbini Province Assembly resigned today to contest in the upcoming election in the House of Representatives.
According to Secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun of the provincial assembly, Dhan Bahadur Maskey of the Nepal Communist Party and Dharma Bahadur Chaudhary, representing the Ujyalo Nepal Party, formally submitted their letters.
Kanhaiya Baniya, elected in 2022 from Rupandehi-4(1), announced his resignation via social media to join the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Following these departures, the 87-member provincial assembly has been reduced to 84 members.
Maskey and Chaudhary previously served as provincial ministers before seeking federal roles.
