KATHMANDU: Sixty-one people have been formally charged in connection with the violent clashes that erupted on Chaitra 15 (March 28) in Tinkune, Kathmandu.
The charges include crimes against the state, criminal disturbance, organized crime, and murder. Among those accused are Rashtriya Prajatantra Party’s senior leaders— Senior Vice-Chairman Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana.
50 individuals, including Mishra, Rana, and Durga Prasain, face serious allegations such as crimes against the state and organized crime.
Eight people, including Durga Prasain, have also been charged with murder and attempted murder following the deaths of two individuals during the unrest.
The victims included journalist Suresh Rajak and Sabin Maharjan, who was fatally shot by police. Another 11 accused face charges related solely to criminal disturbance and organized crime.
Four minors implicated in the incident remain under investigation and will be dealt with in juvenile court.
