KATHMANDU: A total of seven complaints have been filed against three individuals recently recommended for appointment as justices of the Supreme Court.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) stated that five of the complaints are focused on personal allegations against the nominees, while two are related to procedural concerns regarding the hearing itself.
PHC has invited the complainants to present their concerns during a scheduled meeting on Friday. The complaints come in response to the Judicial Council’s recommendation, made on June 10, for the appointment of three individuals to the Supreme Court bench.
Those nominated include senior advocate Megharaj Pokharel, Janakpur High Court Chief Judge Srikanta Paudel, and Dipayal High Court Chief Judge Shantisingh Thapa.
Their nominations must undergo a mandatory parliamentary hearing before formal appointment, as per the constitutional provision for judicial appointments in Nepal.
