KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has initiated talks among new and alternative political groups to jointly defeat traditional parties in upcoming elections.
At a meeting in New Baneshwar on Thursday, leaders from Naya Shakti, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Progressive Campaign Nepal, Bibeksheel Sajha, and Ujyalo Nepal discussed forming an alliance.
Bhattarai warned that corrupt old leaders were resurfacing after the Gen Z uprising and urged unity to counter them electorally.
He said growing public frustration must be addressed through a united front of new forces.
Participants, including Janardan Sharma, Sudan Kirati, Manushi Bhattarai, and Samiksha Baskota, welcomed the idea and agreed to continue discussions.
Naya Shakti later held a separate meeting with Gen Z representatives.
