Baburam Bhattarai resigns as Chairman of JSP (Naya Shakti)

KATHMANDU: Baburam Bhattarai, chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party (Naya Shakti), has resigned from his post.

He announced his decision to step down during a meeting of the party’s central committee on Wednesday. Bhattarai stated that he was resigning to make way for new leadership and policies in the changing political circumstances.

Following his resignation, the central committee announced a special convention organizing committee, headed by Durga Sob.

“According to the new circumstances emerging after the Gen Z movement, Chairman Bhattarai has voluntarily stepped down for new policies and leadership,” the party secretariat said. “He will now focus on uniting alternative political forces.”

The organizing committee consists of 99 members and will hold a special convention within six months to decide on new policies and leadership suitable for the current political context.

Bhattarai also informed the meeting that he would actively work toward unifying alternative political forces.
