HETAUDA: The Bagmati Provincial Assembly, which has not met for a long time, is being prepared to convene in early November.
According to Deputy Speaker Apsara Chapagain, the assembly is expected to be called into session shortly after the Chhath festival.
She added that discussions are ongoing with leaders of the political parties represented in the assembly regarding the timing of the session.
Once consultations conclude, the exact date for the assembly meeting will be finalized. Discussions are currently leaning toward convening the meeting in early November.
Since the assembly hall was damaged by vandalism and arson during the Gen Z movement, the provincial government is preparing to hold the session temporarily in the newly constructed hall at the Chief Minister’s Office in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–2.
The Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly, through Secretary Ram Kumar Paudel, stated that the damaged hall will undergo minor repairs to facilitate assembly proceedings.
At present, the Urban Development and Building Office, with assistance from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, is carrying out cleaning, painting, and other preparatory work in the hall.
