KATHMANDU: Leaders of the party led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav) submitted an application to the Election Commission to register under the name “Communist Party Nepal”, ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

The delegation was led by spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, along with Santosh Budha Magar and Karnajit Budha.

Speaking at a press briefing after submitting the application, Bishwakarma described the day as historic, noting that this marked the party’s first participation in Nepal’s parliamentary system since its formation in 2012.

He emphasized that elections provide a democratic method for the public to decide on their issues without obstruction, and that the party aims to present a new vision and policies aligned with public demand and current national circumstances.

Earlier, acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari warned that political parties failing to participate in the March 5 election risk being sidelined from contributing to the country’s political landscape.

He also highlighted that the Commission is working at full speed to hold the elections, and even minor errors could disrupt the process.

Bhandari reassured that all parties’ suggestions would be considered, and challenges would be treated as opportunities to ensure smooth elections.

The registration comes ahead of the official party registration deadline of November 16, after which the Commission will review applications, decide on approval, and issue party certificates.

With this submission, 17 new parties have applied for registration, adding to the existing 124 registered parties.

Bishwakarma reiterated that the party’s participation in elections is aimed at advancing Nepal’s political movement, ensuring that public issues, systemic reforms, and citizens’ demands are addressed through democratic processes.
