KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday appointed Posh Raj Pandey to the vacant position in the Recommendation Committee for the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

The position became available following the resignation of Bishwo Paudel.

Prithivi Subba Gurung, the Minister for Communication and government spokesperson, shared the information after the meeting.

In a significant step towards transitional justice, the government also finalized the formation of two key bodies—the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).

The appointments were based on the recommendations of a committee led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra, which the Cabinet approved to bring the commissions to full operational status.

Mahesh Kumar Thapa has been appointed as the chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, while former Chief Secretary Lila Devi Gadtoula has been named as the head of the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the appointments of Achyut Prasad Bhandari, Tika Prasad Dhakal, Kumari Kaushalya Ojha, and Padam Bahadur Shahi as members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

For the Commission on Enforced Disappearances, Agni Prasad Thapaliya, Gopal Nath Yogi, Srijana Pokharel, and Binita Nepali were appointed as members, completing the structure of the two transitional justice bodies.
