KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has constituted a five-member constitutional bench to hear 16 petitions challenging the formation of the Sushila Karki-led government and the dissolution of the House of Representatives, citing unconstitutionality.
The House was dissolved on September 12, shortly after Karki became Prime Minister following the Gen Z uprising.
The bench led by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut includes Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla, Kumar Regmi, Hariprasad Phuyal, and Manojkumar Sharma.
Chief Justice Raut had proposed a lottery system, but senior justices insisted on maintaining the traditional seniority-based method.
The constitutional bench will begin hearings today.
