KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is set to hold a parliamentary party meeting this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
Party insiders say the gathering will focus on analyzing the government’s newly unveiled policy and program for fiscal year 2025/26, along with other pressing political matters.
On Friday, President Ram Chandra Paudel had outlined the government’s strategic agenda, highlighting major reforms in infrastructure, taxation, energy, digital services, and environmental protection.
His address emphasized the reassessment of all ongoing and proposed infrastructure initiatives, with financially unviable projects to be shelved or cancelled.
The President also called for a reprioritization of past development commitments to align with the current parliamentary session. Furthermore, a comprehensive tax reform package is in the pipeline to boost industrial growth, attract investment, and enhance the nation’s economic competitiveness.
Plans also include creating a more taxpayer-friendly environment through administrative reforms and expanded digital integration.
As part of its broader digitalization drive, the government aims to establish a digital bank and encourage cashless transactions.
