POKHARA: Chairperson of the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has remarked that the coalition government of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML was formed under the intimidation and pressure of middlemen.
Speaking at a training program on “The Role of Nepali Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in a Socialist-Oriented Economy” organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Pokhara, Prachanda claimed that the current government was not a product of political wisdom but of brokers’ threats.
“The Congress-UML government is not formed out of their intellect; it is the result of the intimidation and pressure of brokers and intermediaries,” said Prachanda.
“This government was created out of fear yesterday, and it survives out of fear today as well. Honest friends within Congress and UML should not remain in such a government, he added.
The former Prime Minister also criticized the capitalist tendencies within the ruling alliance.“Congress and UML today represent crony capitalism and comprador capitalist practices,” he said, adding, “We are the alternative force to that.”
Claiming that the Maoist movement is aligned with the middle class, Prachanda stated, “We represent the middle class. Debt waiver, cooperative reform, and upliftment of the lower class are our priorities.”
He further stressed that the contribution of entrepreneurs and industrialists is essential for moving toward socialism.
Prachanda noted that unity and cooperation among Maoist factions and honest communists are growing in recent times.
“Public support is increasing beyond belief. We are winning even in unexpected places,” he said.“The people have begun to realize that the Maoist Centre is the true force working in their favor,” Prachanda concluded.
