KATHMANDU: Ten student leaders from the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), affiliated with the Nepali Congress, were arrested in Kathmandu during protests against the proposed School Education Bill.

They were detained after attempting to enter a restricted area near New Baneshwor. The protest escalated, prompting police action.

The NSU demands that all teacher appointments be made through 100% open competition. They are also calling for the immediate promulgation of the School Education Bill and rejecting TU Senate meetings held without student representation.

At the same time, NSU members from Koteshwor Campus held a protest by burning tires on the road, demanding the release of the arrested student leaders.
