KATHMANDU: A new forum of young Nepalis committed to democratic values has been formed under the name Democratic Gen Z Forum.

The forum, launched on Sunday under the coordination of Surendra Bhandari, aims to bring together youth from across the country who believe in democracy.

It has been established as a common platform for democratic-minded young citizens. The working committee includes Pujan Chamling Rai (Ilam), Risha Thapa (Lalitpur), Saroj Bista (Achham), Bishal Shahi (Humla), Kumbharaj Sahakari Deuba (Kalikot), Janak Saud (Dailekh), Laxmi Prasad Paudel (Pokhara), Mahendra Kunwar, Ramesh Neupane (Dailekh), Sunita Malla (Mugu), Satendra Yadav, Binod Upadhyaya (Dhading), and Niranjan Rohita (Dhanusha), among others.

According to its founding statement, the Democratic Gen Z Forum seeks to unite young people who believe in democracy and are dedicated to defending national sovereignty, democratic values, inclusion, federalism, republicanism, press freedom, civil supremacy, and judicial independence.

The forum pledges to resist any attempts or conspiracies—under any pretext—that undermine these pillars of democracy.

Coordinator Bhandari said the forum aims to review past weaknesses, avoid repeating mistakes, and advance democracy in a more mature and refined way.

He added that preparations are underway to appoint coordinators in all seven provinces and 77 districts to organize Gen Z youth across the nation who share faith in democracy.
