KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that some unnecessary matters have surfaced, but they are unrelated to the ongoing Statute Convention.
Referring indirectly to the issue of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s membership renewal, Oli stated that such matters will be resolved by the party’s Central Committee and Secretariat.
In a veiled manner, he asked delegates attending the Statute Convention not to discuss the matter concerning former President Bhandari.
Speaking in Godavari, Lalitpur, where the convention is being held, Oli argued that issues related to the former president are not matters for current discussion.
“Only questions related to procedures and statutes will be discussed here. Unnecessary matters can be taken up at the Central Secretariat and office-bearers’ meetings,” Oli said. “We must now work according to the scheduled agenda. There is no time to waste on unnecessary debates.”
He added that time has been allocated for group discussions on reports to be presented at the convention and urged delegates to engage in substantive discussions.
According to Oli, he himself will respond to the political report, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel will respond to the organizational report, and Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel will answer questions related to the statute amendment proposal.
