RKATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has asked the officials at local executive body not to involve in the political and election campaigning.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, EC said its attention was drawn towards the violation of election code of conduct by the people’s representatives at local level- they involved in election campaigning.
They are not allowed to involve in such campaigning as per election code of conduct. The district election code monitoring committee and election officers are asked by EC to monitor the enforcement of the code effectively.
The local level people’s representatives are reminded to stay neutral and respect their positions.
Similarly, the political parties have been asked not to use election symbols in physical forms. The EC reminded the parties for it after it received a complaint that some political parties were bearing the election symbols in physical form and creating disturbance.
On Sunday alone, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) had complained why the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was allowed to bear its election symbol ‘Bell’ in physical form. The RPP argued the Bells were rung by the RSP members in community, causing sound pollution.
