KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has summoned political parties on October 16, for discussions regarding the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.
Commissioner Janakikumari Tuladhar informed that the Commission has sent letters to political parties that were represented in the dissolved House of Representatives and those that won at least one ward member in the last election, inviting them to discuss preparations for the upcoming election.
The Commission has reportedly sent letters to major parties including the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Although the Commission released the election schedule on October 7, Commissioner Tuladhar clarified that it was intended only for internal planning purposes.
Final decisions regarding the election program and related matters will be made after discussions with political parties.
