KATHMANDU: The special committee formed to investigate errors in the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080, has now officially elevated its coordinator to the position of chairperson.

During Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers agreed to the change, with Speaker Devraj Ghimire announcing that the coordinator will henceforth serve as the chairperson, effective from the date of the committee’s formation.

The special committee was established on July 7 to examine alleged errors in the report submitted by the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee regarding the Federal Civil Service Bill.

The investigation focuses particularly on reported manipulations related to the “cooling-off period” provision for retired civil servants in the bill, which some claim was tampered with during its transmission from the committee to the full House.
