Five parliamentary committees set to meet today

KATHMANDU: Meetings of five different parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled for today, Thursday (July 31).

These committees will discuss various bills, governance issues, and national development projects.

The meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee of the House of Representatives will be held at 11:30 AM.

The agenda includes discussion on the “Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Land, 2082.” Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Minister Balram Adhikari, along with officials from the Land Commission and legal and forest experts, will be participating.

Similarly, a joint meeting of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee and the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will take place at 1 PM. This session will focus on the draft of the Sixth National Human Rights Action Plan and the Nepal Bar Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081.

Under the National Assembly, the meetings of the Legislative Management Committee, Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee are also scheduled.

The Good Governance Committee will meet at 11:30 AM to discuss the water supply issues prevalent in various parts of the country, including Madhesh Province, and the ministry’s efforts to address them.

At 1:00 PM, the Legislative Management Committee will hold a clause-wise discussion on the Water Resources Bill, 2081.

Likewise, at 11:00 AM, the National Concerns Committee will meet with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

The agenda includes reviewing the progress, challenges, and government efforts regarding national pride projects under the ministry, as well as expectations from the committee.
