KATHMANDU: Amid ongoing political uncertainty, the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the Deshbhakta Samajwadi Morcha have reached an agreement on party unification and leftist consolidation.
The agreement was made public after Maoist Centre Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Deshbhakta Samajwadi Morcha Chairperson Gopal Kirati signed a political document pledging to unite patriotic, socialist, and revolutionary forces under the leadership of the Maoist Centre.
According to the agreement, revolutionary forces must come together to manage the risks facing Nepali politics, in line with the Maoist spirit of transforming adversities into opportunities as during the People’s War.
The first point of the agreement calls for an objective review of past ideological, political, and organizational weaknesses and the creation of a new unity based on transformation from the grassroots level.
The second point states that the Maoist Centre will hold internal discussions on Kirati’s proposal for a socialist democracy rooted in patriotic identity and make a final decision based on the principle of people’s democracy.
As per the third clause, the party led by Gopal Kirati will now be integrated into the CPN (Maoist Centre).
The document also calls for cooperation among patriotic, socialist, and identity-based movements to safeguard Nepal’s national independence, integrity, and sovereignty.
It urges the younger generation to actively participate in implementing the socialist-oriented state system envisioned by the Constitution and in ending corrupt bureaucracy and the comprador capitalist regime.
The agreement bears the signatures of Maoist Centre Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Deshbhakta Samajwadi Morcha Chairperson Gopal Kirati.
Kirati had formed a new party in 2018 after the merger between the Maoist Centre and the CPN (UML) that created the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
