GANDAKI: Coordinator of Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) should be held on March 5, 2026.
Addressing a mass meeting of the newly-formed Nepali Communist Party in Pokhara on Sunday, Coordinator Prachanda said the government should ensure polls environment by organizing meetings with the political parties having robust public support.
“The election should be conducted on March 5. For this, the government should hold talks with the leaders of parties having larger public support,” the Nepali Communist Party’s Coordinator added.
On the occasion, he reiterated the need for unity among nationalist, leftist and communist forces in the wake of weakening national independence and security.
Prachanda viewed that the country witnessed massive losses due to the arrogance of the erstwhile government.
Likewise, Coordinator Prachanda claimed that his party will emerge the single largest party in the upcoming polls and will work by making corrections to the weaknesses for the cause of nationality and good governance.
During the speech, Coordinator Prachanda stated that the unification of 16 communist forces was not merely for the election purpose but for safeguarding nationality and national independence, and to create a base for prosperity.
Also speaking at the mass meeting, Joint Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said election must be held in the slated date to end political instability in the country.
“A massive crisis has emerged in the country. For this to end, there was no option to the election. Also for safeguarding the nation, a robust communist party is needed,” former Prime Minister Nepal added.
Likewise, leader of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal said the communist party should be system-oriented instead of the leader-centric.
Leader Bhim Rawal viewed that the Nepali Communist Party should move ahead by apologizing for the past mistakes.
Similarly, leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that a communist centre should be made in the country and transformation of the party was needed to translate this mission into reality.
Leaders Dev Prasad Gurung, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhanraj Acharya, Dinanath Sharma, Gayatri Gurung, Shreenath Baral and others shared their views at the mass meeting.
