KATHMANDU: The government will pursue constitutional amendments through political consensus, President Ramchandra Paudel announced during a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Friday.
While unveiling the government’s annual policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year, President Paudel said the Constitution of Nepal, promulgated in 2015, will be reviewed and amended to address weaknesses seen in the implementation phase.
“The government will initiate the process of constitutional amendment based on consensus, by reviewing the Constitution and correcting the shortcomings observed during its implementation,” President Paudel stated.
The announcement signals the government’s intent to open dialogue with political parties to build agreement on potential amendments, although no specific areas of revision were mentioned during the address.
