KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Friday denied any personal involvement in the ongoing visit visa scandal and said the investigation will move forward independently, without interference from him.

Speaking in the House of Representatives, Lekhak claimed he is being unfairly targeted due to the alleged involvement of immigration officials at Tribhuvan International Airport.

“I have been wrongly accused just because officials at the airport are implicated,” he said.

Lekhak emphasized his readiness to cooperate fully with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), saying he is even willing to appear before the body if necessary.

Rejecting calls for his resignation, Lekhak argued that a minister should not be held accountable for the misconduct of subordinate employees.

He termed such demands “completely wrong and inappropriate.”
