KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has resigned from his position. He submitted his resignation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a Cabinet meeting on Monday evening.
The move comes in the aftermath of the Gen Z movement, which began as a protest against corruption and the misuse of tax funds but turned violent.
So far, 19 people have lost their lives during the demonstrations.
Following the unrest, top leaders of the Nepali Congress convened and called for Lekhak’s resignation on moral grounds, emphasizing accountability in the wake of the deadly protests.
