KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is set to address the House of Representatives today regarding the arrest of Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party.
Lawmakers from the party had raised the issue during Tuesday’s parliamentary session, demanding clarification. Although Speaker Devraj Ghimire initially appeared reluctant, he later informed the House that the Home Minister would respond to the concerns.
Speaker Ghimire stated that Minister Lekhak had conveyed—through an informal message—that he would speak on the matter during today’s session (May 8).
Chaudhary was arrested on April 29 while attending an event at Nepal Academy (Pragya Bhawan) to announce the merger of the Nagarik Unmukti Party and Janamat Party. He was released shortly after it was discovered that the arrest warrant issued against him was forged.
