KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a directive to all District Administration Offices to strictly enforce the Election Code of Conduct 2026 and prevent further violations.
This move follows a January 27 notice from the Election Commission requesting more effective monitoring to ensure the March 5 parliamentary elections are fair and transparent.
To achieve this, the Commission has designated Assistant Chief District Officers in all 77 districts to monitor non-financial violations, while Chief Treasury Controllers of all the District Treasury Controller Offices have been tasked with overseeing financial-related misconduct.
The Home Ministry’s correspondence mandates that these officials conduct regular monitoring and submit consistent progress reports to the ministry.
Although the code only came into effect on January 18, the Election Commission has already demanded clarifications from several senior political leaders for violations occurring within the first 10 days.
