KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has stated that it would have been better to seek a resolution within Parliament rather than dissolving the House of Representatives.
He made these remarks while visiting the Parliament building in New Baneshwar, which was destroyed during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9, responding to journalists’ questions about the parliamentary dissolution.
“It would have been better to find a solution from within Parliament without dissolving the House of Representatives,” Speaker Ghimire said, describing the incidents during the Gen Z movement as extremely tragic.
He emphasized that rising above the current situation and moving forward responsibly is the duty of all citizens.
Speaker Ghimire highlighted that the interim government now carries a significant responsibility to resolve the challenges facing the country.
Attacks on the legislature, judiciary, and executive have created a serious situation, he noted.
Reviewing these events and restoring the nation requires collective effort from ordinary people, the general public, and all regions of the country.
“It is everyone’s responsibility to learn from this tragedy and take proper steps forward,” he added.
