KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives under Federal Parliament is scheduled for 2 PM today at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, even as opposition protests continue to disrupt proceedings.
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is set to present a proposal, along with a statement, to begin general deliberations on the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure for the upcoming fiscal year 2082–83. Discussions on the proposal are expected during today’s session.
Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, will present the committee’s report on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2082, as part of the scheduled agenda.
The Speaker is also scheduled to read out official correspondence from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers regarding government assignments and communications.
The meeting continues to face obstruction from opposition parties, including the main opposition, over the controversial visit visa issue.
Their protests have paralyzed parliamentary proceedings, preventing the House from advancing its regular agenda.
Despite attempts at negotiation, including a round of talks on Sunday led by the Speaker with chief whips of major parties, no resolution was reached. Both ruling and opposition blocs remain entrenched in their positions, prolonging the legislative deadlock.
